The Hoosier Sheep Symposium is back ready to accept your registration!! It will be held Saturday, September 23 in the O.V. Winks Building on the Hamilton County Fairgrounds, 2003 Pleasant Street in Noblesville. Symposium starts at 9:30 am with coffee and rolls and concludes with a drawing for a scholarship to the 2108 Howard Wyman Sheep Leadership School.
Winner of the drawing must be present to win. Two raffle tickets are included with each registration. There will door prizes throughout the program.
Educational seminars get under way at 10:00 am with Justin Kieffer, DVM from the Ohio State University presentation of Healthy Flock Management. That will be followed by a discussion of Legal Matters by David Day, a partner with the law firm Church, Church, Hittle, & Antrim.
Wendy Feller of Crawfordsville who attended the 2017 Howard Wyman Sheep Leadership School will offer her experiences and observations about the school.
During the Lunch hour ISA will conduct their annual meeting, elect directors and officers. Master Shepherd, Shepherd of the Year, and Friend of ISA awards will be announced.
Afternoon seminars include a presentation by Dr. Kieffer on the subject of “Is Artificial Insemination for my Operation”. Ken McMichael, Chair of the Indiana Sheep & Wool Market Development Council will share with producers the activities and efforts of the MDC.
“If you snooze-you lose” is the title of a presentation by Dr. Emily Buck of the Agricultural Communications Department at the Ohio State University. She is also the sheep spokesperson in 2017 for the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance. She will discuss how we can use social media.
Prior to heading home, the drawing will be held for the scholarship to the 2018 Howard Wyman Sheep Leadership School.
